Justin Barcia will not line up this weekend for the High Point National, the fourth round of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship. Troy Lee Designs Red Bull Ducati Factory Racing has announced that the American rider is still dealing with a back injury he sustained during qualifying at the Thunder Valley National.
Despite the injury, Barcia managed to finish the first moto at Thunder Valley. However, the team subsequently decided to give him time off to ensure a full recovery.
“Justin is one of the toughest riders in the paddock and gave everything he had in that first moto at Thunder Valley,” said team manager Josh Wisenor. “Right now, the most important thing is that he gets the time he needs to recover properly. We’re all looking forward to seeing him back behind the starting gate.”
The 2026 season has been a challenging one for Barcia so far. During the opening round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship, he suffered a heavy crash that forced him to miss nearly the entire Supercross season. He returned only for the final three rounds, with an eighth-place finish in Denver being his best result.
Barcia has also struggled to find his usual form in the AMA Pro Motocross Championship. After three rounds, the Ducati rider sits 15th in the standings. His best result came at the second round of the season, where a 10-10 moto score earned him 10th overall.
