The Red Bull Ducati Factory MXGP Team has provided a positive update on Andrea Bonacorsi. The Italian rider crashed during the qualifying race at the MXGP of Latvia and underwent surgery shortly afterwards.
According to the team, the operation was successful, and Bonacorsi has now returned home to continue his recovery.
For the time being, the Ducati rider will remain sidelined from competition. The team emphasized that his health and full recovery are the top priorities and that he will be given all the time necessary to return to his previous level.
“The surgery was successful, and Andrea is recovering well. For now, racing will have to wait. He will be given all the time needed to make a full recovery before returning to the track.”
Ducati also thanked all the fans for the many messages of support and well wishes Bonacorsi has received over the past few days.
At this stage, it is still unknown when the Italian rider will make his return to racing. However, Bonacorsi has stated that he is determined to come back stronger.
