Dex Kooiker wins Dutch Masters 125 in Markelo

The De Baets AIT Racing team enjoyed a strong day during the third round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross in Markelo. In the 125cc class, Dex Kooiker secured the overall victory, while teammate Torre van Mechgelen finished sixth overall and Vencislav Toshev managed to score a top ten moto finish.

Dex Kooiker started the race day in convincing fashion by setting the fastest lap time in his practice group. In the first moto, he completed the opening lap in second place and immediately joined the battle for victory. It was an exciting fight, but after a crash he eventually had to settle for a strong second-place finish.

The second moto went even better for the Yamaha rider. Kooiker grabbed the holeshot and then rode a flawless race. From start to finish, he kept firm control of the lead and claimed the race win.

Torre van Mechgelen began the day by posting the fourth-fastest time in his group. In the opening moto, the young Belgian got off to a strong start and completed the first lap in the lead. Although he eventually lost the top position, he delivered a strong performance and finished third.

In the second moto, the Yamaha rider started in fourth place, but unfortunately crashed several times during the race and had to settle for twelfth position. With these results, he finished sixth overall for the day.

Vencislav Toshev managed to secure a top ten finish in the 250cc class in Markelo. After retiring from the first moto while running around fifteenth place, he bounced back strongly in the second moto to finish a solid tenth.

Next weekend, Dex and Torre will line up for the next EMX125 round of the season, which will take place during the MXGP of France in Lacapelle-Marival. Lotte van Drunen will also begin her new WMX season there.
