That Sacha Coenen possesses an impressive amount of determination is something we already knew. This past weekend, he was selected to represent Team Belgium at the MX of Nations in the United States. He managed to win the qualifying heat in the MX2 class and was riding strongly at the front in the first moto until, in the final lap, he ran into an issue with his rear brake. This caused him to crash, after which he was hit by Justin Cooper. As a result, Coenen sustained a fracture in his arm.
At the time, he didn’t realize this and still wanted to represent his country in the second moto. Despite a poor start to the race — during which he went down in the opening lap — he finished twenty-first, riding the entire race with a broken arm.
See below the message from team manager Joel Roelants — respect, Sacha!
