Simon Längenfelder of the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team endured a very disappointing Motocross of Nations weekend. The German rider crashed in the first corner of his opening moto on Sunday and injured his shoulder, bringing an abrupt end to the MX2 World Champion’s season.
On Saturday, Längenfelder had shown strong form by finishing fourth in his qualifying heat, setting himself up well for Sunday’s races. However, his race day turned into heartbreak when he went down in the first corner of his opening moto and immediately felt pain in his shoulder. He required assistance from track marshals and was unable to continue for the rest of the day.
Simon Längenfelder: “There’s not much to say. I went down in the first corner, and a few guys ran over me. My shoulder was in a lot of pain right away, so I had it checked immediately. We’ll see how things develop over the next few days. It’s really disappointing to end the season like this.”
