Mathis Valin came out on top in the MX2 qualifying race, finishing around six seconds ahead of Valerio Lata in second place. Kay de Wolf put in a strong comeback ride to secure third in the heat.
Valin grabbed the holeshot ahead of Camden Mc Lellan and the other 32 riders. The South African Mc Lellan dropped out early, leaving Italians Valerio Lata and Andrea Adamo to battle for third and fourth for much of the race. Both Kay de Wolf and Simon Längenfelder had poor starts and were forced to begin their charge from outside the top fifteen.
De Wolf made up several positions in the opening laps but then struggled to get past Thibault Benistant. He finally managed to overtake him in the penultimate lap and then passed Adamo as well to claim third. Championship leader Längenfelder finished sixth in the race.
