Boss of the CLS Kawasaki team, which during ten seasons successfully entered the Motocross World Championships, but also and above all successive owner of two dealerships (Floride Motos in Marseille, JSL83 in Toulon) which were both the best Kawasaki dealerships in Europe, Jean Jacques Luisetti wanted to publish an open letter before the first round of the 2025 MXGP season.
“After working during many months alongside OlafHaazen in his project to return to the World Championship with the Riley Racing team – later renamed Haaz Racing – I would like to make official that I stopped all involvement in this adventure for several weeks.
When I was contacted by Olaf last September, and following the advices of GérardValattt in particular, I wanted to get as many guarantees as possible before investing in this project and looking for partners. Many responded, starting with Kawasaki Europe, Michelin, Arai, Gaerne and after signing two promising young riders – Tom Guyon and Kay Karssemakers – we worked to be ready for the first pre-season races, with Harry Nolte taking care of the technical side.
In my sporting and professional career I have always worn the Kawasaki colors to the highest level, and launching this project with their support was particularly motivating. Over the weeks it became clear that despite all the guarantees provided, the project could not succeed, particularly due to lack of funding from Olaf, who never kept his commitments. Tom Guyon was the first to withdraw, before I officially withdrew from this project with a feeling of waste, then Kay withdrew in turn.”
