In just 9 days (February 23), the starting gate will drop at the Dutch MX Season Opener in Lierop. Registrations are progressing well, and the field of participants is getting stronger.
The 500cc class is shaping up to be an exciting race on the tough sand circuit of Lierop. The Fantic Factory MXGP team with Glenn Coldenhoff and Brian Bogers will be there, as well as Jago Geerts from the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP team. Roan van de Moosdijk is making a strong comeback after a challenging 2024 season, and Adam Sterry, Micha Boy de Waal, Sven van der Mierden, Petar Petrov, Boris Blanken, and Marcel Conijn will complete the field. A thrilling race is expected.
In addition to this list of big names, we can now add the name of Cornelius Toendel. Toendel raced for the German Schmicker KTM team last year and impressed in the MXGP World Championship, with his highlight being a third-place finish in a race in Portugal. He finished 15th in the overall championship standings.
This year, he will race for the Swedish JWR Honda team and is busy preparing for the upcoming MXGP season.
