Setback for Benoit Paturel in MXGP of Switzerland

Benoit Paturel of the De Baets MX team had to deal with a setback during the seventeenth round of the MXGP World Championship in Frauenfeld, Switzerland. Paturel came into contact with another rider in the qualifying heat after a jump and crashed hard. Paturel suffered many bruises and a concussion. Because of this crash, he was no longer able to ride on Sunday. In the standings, Paturel sits in fifteenth after the race in Switzerland!

Tyla van de Poel and Brent van de Walle competed in the EMX125 class. Brent had to get used to the deep ruts and mud in free practice. In time practice, he pushed several times to set a fast time on the clock. He ended up with the 23rd fastest time in his group and was close to qualifying for the race. In the coming weeks, he will continue to work hard to make another attempt at qualification in Spain.

Tyla van de Poel qualified eighteenth for the race. Unfortunately, he didn’t score in the motos. However, he came close to this in the second moto with a 22nd place. The second moto was a mudfest. Due to the heavy rainfall, the circuit had turned into a mud puddle on which a mistake was easily made. Despite the fact that Tyla crashed once, he persevered and finished 22nd.

Next week the De Baets MX team will travel to Turkey for the next Grand Prix of the season!
