The track last weekend in Arco at the fourth world championship round is really something for connoisseurs. The surroundings alone, with the high mountains and Lake Garda, are unique. The surface with its many hard edges and tight bends is difficult, but I was in good spirits.
Unfortunately, the team had to deal with major material problems on Saturday. This made preparing the bikes really complicated and presented us with problems time and again. Rims and sprockets broke and a few other things came apart. That caused us a lot of problems and the broken rear wheel rim probably caused a hairline crack in the engine casing during practice on Saturday. It held up in the qualifying race, but the next day in the warm-up the casing broke in two. So I couldn’t use my race bike and rode the finals on the spare bike.
My starts weren’t particularly good in either of the finals, I had to start from the back and that obviously takes a lot of energy and stamina on this track. I also had a slip-up in races 1 and 2, otherwise I might have finished in the points. In the end, I finished 23rd and 24th, which I wasn’t happy with. The speed was there, but small mistakes keep happening and I need to work on that. My lap times are good for the top 15, so I can build on that.
Next weekend, however, the ADAC MX Masters kicks off for me in Fürstlich-Drehna. Then it’s on to Dreetz, followed by the “European tour” with the world championship rounds in Portugal, Spain and France. So it’s a full programme, I’m looking ahead and looking forward to the next races.
