Washougal was a huge step in the right direction for Ken Roczen, who led laps and ultimately came away with second overall. The last month has been extremely testing for the multi-time champion, as he continues to struggle with an undiagnosed virus and faces the inconsistencies that come with that. There is no telling how each race will go, as he has previously stated, but tasting champagne again has clearly ignited a virus within him. Roczen shared the following statement on Instagram.

2nd and 3rd for 2nd overall last weekend in Washougal. I was pretty happy with that weekend considering how my finishes have been lately. Every weekend is just a straight suffer fest for me but i look at it as getting mentally BULLETPROOF for next year already. I have never had to suffer this much before on a weekly basis. Does it suck getting miserably tired every single weekend early in the race !? Yeah it does, but i embrace that stuff instead of letting my self get down on it and bitch about it non stop. It will be nice to race being 100% healthy ? @honda_powersports_us @redbull @foxracing @canyon @stancesocks @breitling @goartofsport @thefamilie.v2 ? @emeryphoto
Roczen is still locked in a fight for third in the 450MX championship standings. Although he currently occupies the position, Cooper Webb is just eleven points behind with three rounds left to run. Unadilla, Budds Creek and Ironman will play host to those events.
