The 2022 Monster Energy Supercross opener was the most chaotic in recent memory. There were storylines galore in both classes, especially the premier class. Who surprised you the most in the 450SX class at Anaheim 1? There are many options, both good and bad, to choose from in the MX Vice poll that is placed below. The fact that Ken Roczen won was even a shock, considering just how rough his off-season was. Even Roczen struggled to envision a scenario in which he would leave with the red plate!
The fact that Marvin Musquin managed to secure fourth, despite a fall, was a surprise, as was Malcolm Stewart finishing as the fastest qualifier in the daytime. The speed that both Chase Sexton and Shane McElrath had was noteworthy as well! There were shocks on the other end of the spectrum too; few expected Aaron Plessinger to struggle as much as he did and most had Justin Bogle pegged for a position in the main event at least.
