Jimmy Decotis had an eventful time of it at the opening round of the 250SX East series in Tampa, Florida, as he entered injured and then had to find a way to battle through it. It was never actually confirmed just how bad the injury was though. Until now, that is. Suzuki confirmed that he actually fractured his pelvis days before the race. That obviously makes the fact that he lined up even more impressive. The JGR Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing team manager, Jeremy Albrecht, had this to say about his 250SX East pilot.
“Jimmy has been riding better than ever but had a crash last Monday that made his weekend tough. I was proud of him for the effort he put in all week and weekend to get a top-ten finish. Jimmy was in a lot of pain and kept fighting to do his best. With another week of recovery, it will help him a ton. I hope you all can see what we have seen at the JGR track.”
Decotis salvaged a ninth in the 250SX East main event, amazingly. Decotis occupies the same position in the championship standings heading into the second round in Arlington, Texas, this weekend. Arlington will be the second Triple Crown event of the season.
