Tonkov questionable for Kegums

Update (27/04/2016, 18:24)

Tim Mathys, the Wilvo Standing Construct team manager, has now confirmed exclusively to us that Aleksandr Tonkov will miss the Latvian GP. Read more here.

A reliable source has confirmed that Aleksandr Tonkov crashed hard whilst practicing at Lommel yesterday and was taken to hospital. We have contacted his team, who have confirmed that it seems likely that he’ll race Kegums this weekend. However, they will have a definite answer this afternoon. Tonkov hurt his neck, back and ribs in the fall, but it seems there were no breaks or fractures.

Aleksandr currently sits fourth in the MX2 standings in MXGP and has two overall podium finishes to his name (Thailand and Argentina). He has already overcome an illness this season, which restricted him to the lower half of the top ten at the third round.
