Glenn Coldenhoff (MXGP), Kay de Wolf (MX2) and Calvin Vlaanderen (Open) will represent The Netherlands at the 2022 Monster Energy Motocross of Nations. Coldenhoff and Vlaanderen have tackled RedBud previously, as they represented The Netherlands when the MXoN was last held in the USA, whereas de Wolf is set to make his debut at the prestigious event.
Jeffrey Herlings was not an option for The Netherlands, as he will not starting riding again until late September and therefore the Motocross of Nations is just unrealistic. The other realistic option for the nation was the winner of the Grand Prix of Flanders, Brian Bogers, who was in contention for the Open class spot, but ultimately got pipped to the post by Vlaanderen. It is thought that Vlaanderen’s experience at the race, as well as the fact that he helped The Netherlands win back in 2019, tipped the scales in his favour.
