Joel Rizzi’s struggled in races across Europe lately, and’s now pointed to a mystery illness as the reason. There is no confirmation on what the health issue is exactly yet – the problem’s serious enough to force him to withdraw from the Belgian rounds of the 2020 FIM Motocross World Championship though. Rizzi confirmed the news with the following social-media statement.
“I’m afraid I’ve had to make the decision to pull out of the last few EMX races at Lommel this weekend! Over the last few months I’ve been getting more and more fatigued and tired, and in general feeling terrible and yesterday could only manage a few laps so till [sic] I get to the bottom of what’s going will have to rest up.”
Rizzi has not entered the top ten in EMX250 yet this season, but has come close: An eleventh in moto one at Latvia 2 is a season-best finish. Rizzi started the season in EMX125, but later exited the class to focus on the four-stroke and build for his future. This post will be updated as soon as more information becomes available.
