Crescent RHR Racing Yamaha rider, Jake Shipton, dug deep to claim twelfth overall at the opening round of yesterday’s MX Nationals.
The first round of the MX Nationals presented itself as quite challenging for Shipton; only finishing mid-pack for the first couple of races, due to a nasty crash and a technical issue. However, fresh determination resulted in a renewed push from Jake!
Despite the worry from earlier in the day, he secured ninth place in race two. Having experienced a couple of difficult results, and with a lot riding on this round, he pushed through to an overall twelfth place at the end of the day.
The positives from the opener shall be taken forward by Jake and team, ahead of round two of the Maxxis British Championship in Norfolk this coming Sunday.
Rob Hooper: “Poor starts were the problem for Jake. He was having to come from the back of the field each race. His speed and the way he was riding was much better than the results showed. I feel it was the best I have seen him race so far! Both Jake and myself know there are a lot better results coming soon.”
Jake Shipton: “Another rough weekend, with positives to take away, but I just need to secure a better position at the start. This weekend I didn’t do that due to poor qualifying. I won’t give up and I’ll fight to be where I want and should be, week in, week out!”
