One of the most famous off-road brands, Team Green, is set to boost its profile in 2013 with a return to motocross paddocks across the UK.
With an in-house team of four riders planned, Kawasaki supported Team Green riders will be competing in all major youth classes in the coming season contesting the Red Bull Elite Youth Cup and British Youth Nationals, as well as representation in the MXY2 Championship.
The all new team will comprise Preston Williams on KX65, Dylan Woodcock on small wheel 85, Billy King on big wheel 85 and Todd Kellett riding the KX250F in the Rookie class.
Another boost to paddock presence will be a Team Green area at each event manned by motocross stalwart, Jeff Perrett. While looking after the needs of the latest crop of riders, Jeff – along with Kawasaki’s UK Racing Coordinator, Ross Burridge – will also be talent spotting for future Team Green places.
“It’s a simple yet effective concept”, explained Perrett. “We want to ensure that those riders selected to ride for the official Team Green squad have the best support and advice possible. At the same time, as those riders progress we’d like to bring emerging talent through to create a rich vein of new riding talent in the UK”.
Already attracting the attentions of some major sponsor including Monster Energy, Maxxis tyres, Alias clothing and JT sprockets, the support network that riders can rely on is formidable.
Commenting for Kawasaki Motors UK, Ross Burridge stressed that the basic principles of Team Green remained true to the core ideals established over a quarter of a century ago by the late Alec Wright.
“It’s exciting to think that a Team Green awning will return to the paddock in 2013 and that there is such a strong rider and sponsor representation in the major UK youth Championships. I am sure Alec would be pleased to see us helping the amazing talent we have in the UK towards becoming the stars of the future.”
