Following such a successful second half of last year, Zach Osborne is being chased by a black cloud at the moment. Osborne did not even crash prior to the eighth round of 2021 Monster Energy Supercross, Orlando 2, yet he sparked a niggling injury in his back that went on to restrict him at the final event inside of Camping World Stadium. Osborne explained the situation in the following excerpt from his social media.
“Last Tuesday prior to Orlando 2 I got a weird sensation in my back after a big seat bounce, I tried to ride Wednesday a little and Thursday a little with no real improvement. I went into the weekend knowing it would be a slight struggle but it was a little more than I anticipated. After some exams this week I found out I have a bulging disc in my lumbar spine. I’ve done a lot of therapy this week and it’s coming back into a comfortable range so I’m hoping to be a little closer to normal by Daytona. Look forward to being back at 100% and getting back to having some fun at the races.”
Considering the above, it is quite incredible that Osborne actually managed to achieve one of his better results of the season at that eighth round. Osborne was eighth in the 450SX main event and clawed his way up to eighth in the premier-class championship standings too. There is still a full week to go before gates drop at Daytona.
