Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Thomas Covington has not hit the heights that some expected in Lucas Oil Pro Motocross and, unfortunately, that trend continued at the third round at Thunder Valley over the weekend. A pair of finishes outside of the top twenty left him with no points to add to his championship tally, but what happened exactly? A statement from Husqvarna revealed that he ran off track early on in moto one, then charged from thirty-fifth to twenty-seventh in moto two. Covington also shared the following statement.
“We had a tough weekend out here. I made a lot of mistakes. I went off the track in the first moto and then I was starting all the way on the outside and had a hard time coming back. I’m really just looking forward to resting up so I can get ready for the next weekend.”
Could a weekend off be exactly what it takes to rejuvenate Thomas Covington? It certainly sounds like it. Covington currently sits twenty-second in the championship standings with ten points to his name. Those were garnered in moto one at Fox Raceway, where he finished eleventh.
