In a fairly surprising turn of events, Arnaud Tonus has just announced his retirement from professional racing on social media. Tonus raced for the new Hostettler Yamaha team in the 2021 FIM Motocross World Championship. Ranked nineteenth in the series standings, Tonus was beset by injuries and yet another concussion. There was a season-best finish of seventh in moto one at the Grand Prix of France – proof that he can still compete.
“Time for me to move away and begin a new chapter, I don’t really have the words, when you have been in the motocross world since four years old it’s pretty much all you know. I’m forever grateful for what the sport made me experience and the love for it will never go away! I really want to thank you guys for the love and support and truly mean it.”
Tonus raced for Teka Suzuki Europe World MX2, Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki and Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP among others in his successful career.
