Race Report: MXoN

Titbits of information.

Published

on

The Motocross of Nations is an action-packed event and one that is difficult to follow, as so much goes on in each moto. That is why we put together this rapid-fire report, however, which includes small titbits of information from each heat. The final results will be placed here also.

Moto Two (MX2 and Open)

– Jeffrey Herlings actually fell en route to this win, but soon rebounded. Romain Febvre kept it close, however, before accepting defeat in the closing stages. Herlings’ scores will dramatically help the Dutch team.

– Tommy Searle started way outside of the top twenty, but charged forward to fifteenth and kept GB’s hopes of a podium alive. Dean Wilson, on the other hand, had a consistent outing to cross the line in seventh.

– Zach Osborne had a very turbulent ride, but ultimately pulled through to take third. He narrowly missed out on the MX2 individual win, however, as Hunter Lawrence nabbed it by a point. Lawrence was actually in third, but fell with a couple of laps to go.

– Thomas Covington crashed multiple times, but never gave up and salvaged a twenty-second. Considering the fact that Seely failed to finish moto one, it was a rather useful result.

Moto One (MXGP and MX2)

– Max Anstie took the outside gate for Team Great Britain, but managed to take the early lead by railing around the outside. Anstie then led every single lap and had a lead as big as fifteen seconds at one point. Team Great Britain run ninth, however, as Tommy Searle reportedly withdrew with a blown engine.

– Cole Seely’s shock collapsed before the halfway point, so that hurt the USA. Zach Osborne dug deep to salvage a tenth, however, and keep them in the running. That helped the squad significantly.

– Dean Ferris pulled in for goggles early on and then did not make much progress. Australia are, consequently, heavily relying on good results in the next two motos.
