Racing continues in the United Kingdom, as round one of the 2021 Michelin MX Nationals is set to take place in the deep sand of FatCat this weekend. The domestic series has grown in stature in recent years – the line-up for the first round is proof of that. The MX1 and MX2 riders race together in a class dubbed ‘Fastest 40’ on Sunday, but are scored separately. A pre-entry list for that mixed class can be found below.
Grand Prix riders like Shaun Simpson and Conrad Mewse will race as wildcards this weekend, adding to the depth. Those two will be particularly interesting to watch. Simpson has had a difficult start to the year, so it will be most interesting to see his form in the rough sand that he typically thrives in. Mewse, on the other hand, is riding better than ever and could beat the MX1 riders straight up when gates fall on Sunday. It’s not out of the question!
