Revo Talon Kawasaki went into Fatcats full of confidence after last week British Masters results. The team setup the new Broadview Awning and pretty much took over the pits with 8 team bikes on display along side the new Kenny full kit model!
Coming off the back of last weeks 2nd overall after being out since August last year Nez Parker was looking to put in a competitive ride once more and improve bike fitness at the the same time. Ross Keyworth was on the reserve list for this event due to the amount of people entered this season, although that didn’t stop him putting in the 33rd fastest time. With overnight weather conditions forcing the organisers into reducing the racing to two races, the track was going to be tough.
Race 1 and Nez gated in 9th and spent the race pushing forward to try and catch Edmonds, Moffat and Coutts. Chasing all 3 down Nez was up to 6th when 2 corners from the End he was passed by GP rider Tanel Leok. A great start to the series and some points in the bag!
Race 2 was more of a survival of the fittest after heavy rain and snow made the track very difficult not only for the riders but for the bikes. Nez gated well again but disaster struck when he lost his goggles, a quick trip to the pits after lap 1 and Parker went from 9th to 26th. Within 5 laps Nez found himself up to 16th picking riders off before a little slip cost him a few seconds and some momentum. Nez finished the race in 13th to take 8th overall on the day and in the British Championship.
Like the MX1 riders, Damon and Dan had their work cut out with the conditions! It was always going to be a difficult day not only with the weather, but also with the strength and depth of the MX2 lineup. Dan posted 25th and Damon posted 35th in qualification. Race 1 and Damon got a decent start, and worked his way through to 18th position, looking in control and confident. Dan was working hard trying to pick riders off each lap after being caught in the pack. Lap 8 and disaster struck, Damon went down. Damon got restarted but found himself in 32nd. Dan managed to pick off 2 riders on the last lap to secure a 20th in his first British Championship race of 2013 and Damon got across the line in 28th. Damon was so close to getting a few points on the board!
Race 2 and the conditions were awful, heavy rain falling then turning into snow for long periods making the track heavy going. A mid pack start for Dan and the winter training started to pay off, Dan quickly rose up the ladder from 20th to 14th and by the end Dan finished in a very creditable 12th place to give him 17th overall on the day and in the British Championship. Damon had a frustrating day but will be looking to bounce back at Round 2 of the British Championship this weekend at Canada Heights!
The Revo Talon Team would like to thank Martin Craven of Fatcat MotoParc for all his hard work throughout the day to make the event run. There are no other tracks in the UK that would be able to take that much punishment and still be able to run.
