In a fairly unsurprising turn of events, MX Sports Pro Racing has announced that the 2020 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross series will not begin on July 18 as initially planned. A spike in COVID-19 cases across America has prompted the promoters of the series to make the decision, as the social-media statement below explains.
“Despite the tireless and sustained efforts on behalf of both series and event organizers, MX Sports Pro Racing has made the difficult decision to further postpone the start of the 2020 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. The previously announced opening pair of events were slated to begin in just over two weeks, on July 18 and 25. However, due to ongoing concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, notably recent spikes of positive cases in a significant number of states, series managers deem it necessary to push back the start of the series once more.”
There is currently no word on when the opening round of the series will be run, nor has it been confirmed that it will still be at Ironman in Indiana. This post will be updated as soon as more news filters through.
