Rounds six and seven of the 2020 ACU British Motocross Championship calendar have been cancelled, following recent government guidance. The events were set to take place at Desertmartin and Culham. A full press release is below.
Following an address by the Prime Minister on Sunday May 10, the Auto-Cycle Union has released a joint statement with the AMCA in which a potential phased return of motorcycle sport from July 04 is outlined. It may be possible for small, well managed events to resume after July 04. However, all national championships including MXGB will not be permitted until the following two main criteria have been met.
– The government deem that the whole of the UK has moved into level two of the guideline.
– That the travel restrictions imposed by the Welsh, Scottish and Northern Ireland governments have been lifted.
The ACU directors and sporting committees will continue to closely monitor the situation, but in the meantime the announcement means that unfortunately the MXGB rounds scheduled for June 21 and July 12 respectively will not take place as planned.
Whilst we all want to return to racing as soon as possible, our overriding concern during this pandemic is for the continued safety and well-being of everyone involved in organising, participating and attending MXGB events.
Further updates will be issued in due course.
