New Team Green squad a breath of fresh air at 02 Arenacross

The recently re-launched official UK Kawasaki Team Green youth squad had their public competition debut at the O2 Arena on 12 January at the first round of the British Arenacross series.

Designed to reignite the famous Kawasaki “ladder of opportunity” for KX competitors, the team is already being seen as a breath of fresh air in paddocks with its four rider line-up guided by off-road stalwart, Jeff Perrett, alongside Kawasaki UK’s racing Coordinator, Ross Burridge.

Covering all the bases youth-wise, the team were “blooded” at the fiercely contested Arenacross opener promoted by Events22, and their riding showed that none were overawed by the pressure from over 15,000 enthusiastic fans of indoor motocross.

Backed by Kawasaki Motors UK and drinks giant, Monster Energy, the young riders stormed to an impressive set of results in the qualification rounds and evening finals held on a demanding track more suited to larger capacity machines.

Just a whisker from podium placing were Billy King and Todd Kellet with fourth place finishes while Preston Williams looked set for a runner up spot until a crash pushed him down the order at race end.

The Team Green highlight of the night was provided by twelve year old Dylan Woodcock winning the small wheel 85cc final by a country mile and taking a solid points advantage to the next round across the Irish sea in Belfast.

Commenting on his podium topping performance, Dylan said; “I had such an amazing night, the bike worked perfectly and the track was awesome! I just want to thank Kawasaki and Monster Energy for putting this package together for me and I hope I can do the same in the last three rounds!”

For Kawasaki, a proud Ross Burridge commented; “Wow, what a night! Team Green has definitely come back with a bang. What can I say about Dylan? He is a future star of the sport without a doubt; he and the rest of the team performed beyond expectations.

The squad really showed what the green machines are capable of and, with the next Belfast round, the prospect is for more of the same!”
