A fairly surprising piece of enduro news filtered through moments ago. This enduro news contains two factors that could potentially make it of interest to motocross fans, hence the reason for posting on MX Vice. Honda SR Motoblouz, a team known for contesting the FIM Motocross World Championship with Jeremy Van Horebeek and Valentin Guillod, also has a branch that competes in beach races in France. That is actually where they started out.
Van Horebeek has competed in those beach races for them over the last two years, as double duty of sorts, and scored well, but the fact that the Grand Prix calendar is going to go long now means that he is no longer capable of doing that. The team reacted by signing Nathan Watson – the reigning champion who was on a Red Bull KTM – and MXGP regular Lars van Berkel. The pair will compete in the Championnat de France des Sables [Ed. Note: French Beach Race Championship] and Le Touquet.
An interesting point to consider is that Honda SR Motoblouz don’t actually have anyone under contract for the 2021 FIM Motocross World Championship. The contracts that both Van Horebeek and Guillod are on will run out at the end of the current term, so could this potentially be an opening for Watson to return to motocross? The Motocross of Nations podium finisher has made no secret about his desire to get back into the Grand Prix paddock.
