oung motocross talents from all over Europe will be gearing up next weekend to proudly represent their home countries at the popular circuit of Castelnau de Levis, France, for the 2013 Motocross of European Nations (MXoEN). The MXoEN this year will be sporting a new format which will include an 11-14yrs 85cc class, 13-17yrs 125cc class and an 250cc class with a 21year age limit. In addition to these classes there will be a women’s class allowing female motocross riders to have an opportunity to compete at the same event but within their own category titled Women’s Motocross of European Nations.
Each team participating in the 2013 Motocross of European Nations is permitted to have 4 riders (two 85cc riders, one 125cc rider and one 250cc rider) who will compete for an individual result, but also for the Nations victory. Each rider will race a total of two races, and the best seven race finishes throughout the day will decide which nation will win the Motocross of European Nations Title.
The Motocross of European Nations will be run in 4 races of 20 minutes plus two laps for EMX85 and 25 minutes + 2 laps for EMX125/250 as follows:
• Motocross of European Nations, Race 1 (EMX85 Riders / Maximum 20 teams or 40 riders) 20+2 laps
• Motocross of European Nations, Race 2 (EMX125 and EMX250 Riders / Maximum 20 teams or 40 riders) 25+2 laps
• Motocross of European Nations, Race 3 (EMX85 Riders / Maximum 20 teams or 40 riders) 20+2 laps
• Motocross of European Nations, Race 4 (EMX125 and EMX250 Riders / Maximum 20 teams or 40 riders) 25+2 laps
With more than twelve different countries and teams already entered, racing is expected to be fierce, not only amongst the youngsters but also amongst the women with entries being received from the best female riders in the world including the current FIM Women’s Motocross World Champion Chiara Fontanesi and former FIM Motocross World Champions Stephanie Laier and Livia Lancelot.
Defending nation Italy will be looking for a repeat performance in Castelnau de Levis during the 21st April weekend after winning the 2012 Motocross of European Nations which took place at the circuit of Pyrogovo, Ukraine. Also lining up to defend if not better their podium positions from the 2012 MXoEN will be Slovenia and Ukraine.
