Stephen Rubini has confirmed that he will return to Assomotor Honda next year, which is a crucial part of the silly season puzzle in Europe. Rubini has raced for the team the last two seasons – rumours indicated that he would move to Marchetti KTM ahead of the 2021 FIM Motocross World Championship though. The renewal of his deal was confirmed via the statement below.
“I am super happy to let you know that I will stay with @Assomotor_Team for the third year in the row. It’s a great team and really motivated to progress and accomplish great things. The test went good and we are confident for 2021. It’s also super nice to have joined @LoveMyTraining and @YvesDemaria. We gonna [sic] work hard to reach our goals. I thank everybody in the team (they are working very hard), all the sponsors from the team and my personal sponsors.”
Rubini was tenth in the final MX2 standings this season, with a best moto finish of fifth (acquired at Faenza and Pietramurata). It’s currently unknown who will sit next to him beneath the Assomotor awning, but Gianluca Facchetti is linked to the seat.
