In a surprising turn of events, with the season just months away, Alberto Forato has moved on from the 250F and shifted his focus to the premier MXGP class. Forato will stay with the same SM Action GASGAS Yuasa Battery squad, but just jump aboard an MC 450F from this point. The news was confirmed via the following statement on social media.
“ATTENTION! Breaking news, ladies and gentlemen. One of my biggest dreams comes true! Schedule change! This year I will race in the MXGP world championship on the GASGAS 450! I am very happy and motivated for this new adventure. See you behind the gate! Thanks to the @SMActionRacingTeam and to all the sponsors for giving me this opportunity and for believing in me.”
To make this situation even more bizarre, Forato has already completed multiple pre-season races in the MX2 class. Fifth was the position that he secured in the three-round Internazionali d’Italia series. Andrea Adamo will now be the only MX2 rider on SM Action GASGAS Yuasa Battery. Could this open the door for Kevin Horgmo to step up from EMX250?
