Nev Bradshaw knows all about what it takes to lift a Red Bull Pro Nationals title – Nev’s the defending MX2 champ and also won it in 2009 in the series’ inaugural season.
Last weekend new dad Nev (Putoline Honda) couldn’t quite manage to repeat his overall win at Culham Park in September which landed him the 2012 title but his 3-1-4 results in the 250 division were good enough for second overall and helped him pull five points back on series leader Steven Lenoir who ended the day third.
He’s now a solid second in the series and has closed to within 15 points of the Evotech Stevens KTM red plate holder.
“I didn’t win but it was good to make some points up on Steven,” says Nev. “The first race I didn’t get a great start but rode steady and came back to third and beat Steven and in the next I got a good start but my clutch went on the first lap so I was lucky to hold on for the win and make more points back on Steven.
“The last race felt like the pace was so fast. I knew I had to beat Martin Barr for the overall but he came past me with four laps to go. I got back onto him but I was riding a bit over my head and the fatigue hit me pretty hard. It’s been a hectic week and I’ve been racing six weeks in a row but this weekend’s been awesome and I’ve made up points on Steven which is my main focus and won a moto which is cool.”
When it comes to the Red Bull Pro Nationals Nev’s a big fan.
“Again, it’s been an awesome atmosphere here at the Red Bull Pro Nationals with the sun shining and the amount of people who came to watch so all-in-all it’s been a good weekend.”
