The narrative whenever silly season rolls around tends to be the same. It revolves around there being too many riders and not enough seats, hence why it is a shock to see a premier-class team accepting applicants via social media! The JWR Racing team will return to the 2021 FIM Motocross World Championship with an all-new line-up of riders, as Anton Gole is moving on and Cornelius Tondel will tackle EMX250 with Riley Racing. A statement is below.
“The 2020 season is coming to an end. It was a year with ups and downs it was a different season from others for all the teams and riders with the COVID-19 pandemic. It was a very hectic season for everybody with a full calendar and a lot of back-to-back races within three months. For us, it would have been impossible to do this without our fantastic crew, riders and sponsors. We want to thank all of our partners, mechanics, crew and riders for this season. For the 2021 season we will continue in the MXGP class and the future for JWR racing is looking bright and shiny! Next season we will continue with a new rider line-up (more info and details will follow very soon). JWR Racing has an extra spot left for one more rider, so if you are the rider JWR is looking for and you want to know some more details then you can always send us an email. Once again, thank you very much for all the support this season and we hope to see you all back in 2021.”
It’s thought that JWR has secured the services of one guy, but is in need of a second premier-class rider. Jeremy Van Horebeek is a free agent – the money he demands would not make him a fit at JWR though. Alvin Ostlund and Valentin Guillod were linked to the team initially, but it now seems as though neither rider will end up there.
