Lyng Shows Signs of Improvement for Maxxis Kawasaki by LPE

Sunday 7th of April saw the Maxxis Kawasaki by LPE Team make the trip to Lyng in Norfolk for
the third round of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship. After a wet opening
round and the unfortunate cancellation of the second round the team was much happier to
be arriving at a dry and sunny venue.
The day started with MX1 qualifying which produced mixed results that saw Brad transfer into
the super pole, allowing him to improve his time from 12th to 6th fastest. Both Connor and
Dorren suffered mechanical issues limiting their time on track resulting in 23rd and 24th
places respectively. In the MXY2 qualifying Ben improved on his qualifying performance at the
first round to finish 32nd.
After the lunch break it was time for the first race of the day. As the gate dropped both Brad
and Dorren got good jumps allowing brad to get in the top six early on. Dorren was pushing
hard within the top 10 and worked his way up to 8th place at the finish. Connor produced a
strong race after a mid pack start which allowed him to come home within the points in 18th.
Brad worked his way into 5th and was looking to move forward past Dougan into fourth when
he slipped off in the corner going for the pass and had to settle for 5th.
In the first MXY2 race Ben made a mid pack start but quickly made up a number of positions
and got up to 23rd when he unfortunately crashed and dropped back to 25th at the flag.
The second MX1 race would see drama for Dorren before the race started, after swapping
bikes between the first and second race it became clear there was a problem with the clutch
in the waiting zone. The team worked quickly to resolve the problem and managed to get
Dorren on to the start line. Once again Brad made a good top ten start and quickly worked his
way towards the top 5. As is in the first race Brad came up behind Dougan and went to make
a pass when both riders collided and went down. This dropped Brad a couple of positions and
saw him finish in 6th. Connor again rode a hard race and finished the race with another point
scoring ride for 20th place. Unfortunately for Dorren the problem with the clutch forced him
to retire after a couple of laps.
Ben’s second MXY2 would see him have to battle hard from a lowly start 38th on lap one but
he got his head down to work his way up in 25th again at the finish.
The final mx1 race of the day saw Brad ride a faultless race to finish 5th and 5th overall on the
day. While Dorren put the second race DNF out of his mind to finish in 12th place.
Unfortunately Connor suffered a heavy landing on one of the big drop offs which caused him
to have a technical problem unfortunately resulting in a DNF.
Following two to rounds of the Championship Brad has managed to move himself up into 6th
place in the standings while Dorren’s DNF caused him to drop to 11th place in the standings
