Leading the MX2 field heading into round three at Culham Park on June 29-30, Evotech Stevens KTM’s Steven Lenoir has so far this season perfected the crucial cocktail of speed and consistency – an essential mix to win championships.
His race record says it all – from six starts he’s won four and had one second and one third, good enough for both overall decisions and a 20-point lead.
“I’m confident I can take three overall wins in a row,” says the Frenchman. “My speed is good, I just need to be more consistent with my starts especially with the 450s in the same race. There are some very fast riders in MX1 and MX2 so the start is really important but I will try to be more focussed and keep working hard.”
Having lead the MX2 division at this stage last year, Steven lost his way a little in the middle part of the season and although he still managed second in the championship by the time the series arrived at Culham for the final round his hopes of the crown were slim.
“Last year at Culham wasn’t my best weekend – if you remember I was riding the Suzuki – but hopefully this time will be better. I’m leading the championship, feel very good and I am definitely looking forward it.
“It’s definitely better with two days racing – it’s a good way to go. I like three races but not on one day. The Red Bull Pro Nationals look really good and I was very impressed with Weston – it was a great event and also I really liked the track at Landrake.”
