Revo Talon Kawasaki – Round 3 Lyng

Round 3 of the British Championship was hosted by Norwich Vikings at the fantastic circuit of Lyng in Norfolk. After experiencing all of the elements in round 1, the sun was a welcome sight all weekend. MX1 qualification went well for Nez Parker who put in a time of 2.08.754 to clinch 11th fastest and secured a place in the Superpole. With each rider given one lap to put in the fastest time, mistakes would cost several places, Nez put in a fast lap to take 9th position. Ross Keyworth had a qualification to forget and with the weight of knowing that there were no spaces for reserve riders this proved to be too much. The team took the decision to pull Ross in and get him focused on the first round of the Redbull in 2 weeks.

MX2 Riders Dan Thornhill and Damon Strydom were up next and with a class of returning GP riders it was always going to be tough, with Damon qualifying in 28th and Dan in 30th.

MX 1

Nez Parker got Squeezed out on the tight first corner, coming through in 36th. With a fast uphill section from the start Nez managed to squeeze his way through to mid pack  charging through to 18th at the end of the first lap. Putting in consistent laptimes the Parker started to move up the leader-board.  Nez quickly found himself behind the pack of Smith, Elderfield, Coutt’s and Nunn midway through the race and each lap managed to pick off riders and on the last lap caught Coutt’s for 8th. In the last corner by the chequered flag disaster struck and Parker made a small mistake going over the berm and crashing. Nez picked the bike up to cross the line with fuzzy head to finish in 10th position. Race 2 and another difficult start, Parker again 18th at the end of lap 1. Nez rode another consistent race to to find himself 3 seconds off of Ramon at the chequer flag, coming through in  12th position. Race 3 and a decent start in 12th position just behind Barragan and chasing the pack of Moffat, Krestinov and Elderfield. As the race progressed, Nez was looking stronger and in the last 2 laps managed to work his way up to 8th position. Consistency and hard work throughout the week is paying off with Nez now in 7th position in the British Championship, only 3 points behind Brad Anderson in 5th position.

MX2 unfortunately didn’t go exactly to plan. Dan got squeezed out on the start and worked hard to get up to 30th position at the end of race 1, Strydom was adapting fast to the track and put in a solid 24th position behind Millward. Race 2 and disaster struck for both riders early on. Technical issue for Strydom and a crash from Thornhill left him nursing a leg injury ruling him out for race 3. So with only 1 MX2 rider in race 3 it was down to Strydom and Damon responded brilliantly! A mid pack start Damon challenged the riders around him and worked his way into 19th position at the flag, securing his first 2 points in the 2013 championship. Dan sits 24th and Damon 32nd in the British Championship overall.
