The Motocross of Nations is just over three months away, so hype has started to build. Team announcements should even begin to surface in the next month or so. It is hardly surprising that one man, Eli Tomac, continues to hog headlines, as speculation about his status runs rife.
Steve Matthes, our correspondent in the USA, spoke with Eli Tomac the PulpMX Show earlier this week though and posed that question to him. “Yes, I will do it,” was his answer. “Yes, I will do it. Final answer. Yes, I will do it.” Tomac backed that up in the post-race press conference at the fourth round of Lucas Oil Pro Motocross as well. “Yup, I’d be in,” he stated when asked if he would go if selected.
Eli Tomac has raced at the Motocross of Nations twice. Teutschenthal, Germany, was where he made his first appearance, where he filled the MX2 role and helped Team USA finish second overall. Tomac then returned the next year in the Open category at Kegums, Latvia, and finished third with Team USA, but has not been back since. Injuries and scheduling conflicts have been the reason for that.
