Round four of the Phoenix Tools/Premier South West Centre Motocross Championship was held at Little Silver, Exeter, Devon on Sunday. The track was in prime condition following continued watering on the Saturday and the sprinkle of rain the night before.
Phoenix Tools Honda CRF450 rider Jackson Evans stole the lead after a few laps of race one and looked like a comfortable winner until he slipped off on a tricky turn and took several kicks to get the bike re-started. Another careless crash on the final lap dropped “Jacko` down to 18th spot.
While Evans was in front, a battle ensued behind with Phoenix Tools Honda team-mate Maarten Cremers and series leader Luke Hill. Hill gratefully inherited the win from Cremers and Luke Mellows.
Race two saw Jacko` take the lead and make no mistakes. Luke Hill and Jamie Skuse followed him home, with Cremers fighting hard for 6th spot at the flag.
Fast starting Darren Shears leapt into the lead of the final moto, with Jackson way back in tenth spot. Cremers fought up to second, but by the last lap, Jacko` was all over the Belgian Phoenix Tools rider and without a safe place to pass on the high speed track, Evans settled for third.
Cremers second place in the final moto gave him third overall on the day and he now lies eighth in the championship, with Evans in fifth and both riders will be ready for this weekend`s round four of the Maxxis British Motocross Championship at Milton Park, Northampton.
