We prepared all week for the first round of the MXY2 at Canada Heights, arrived at the Track on the Saturday the track looked awesome, and when walking the organisers had changed the track, made the track challenging and interesting.
We were third out for qualifying, the track had been watered well, and a great number of lines had appeared on the track, qualifying was hard the top ten changing all the time, Dan qualified 5th, he was really pleased with this.
First race was a bit of a nightmare, after 2 red flags, as the start gate didn’t drop, the third start was fantastic 2nd round the first corner behind Lloyd Pettete, Dan tried a pass on Lloyd going for the lead but disaster struck and both went down, getting back up and back on the bike Dan eventually finished 8th, unfortunate for us the race was red flagged with still 5 minutes to go.
Second race, not such a good start about 10th out of the gate, but pushed hard through the first couple of corners and came out about 6th; a hard race, the track was rough and narley, riders crashing out all over the track, making it difficult for the riders. Dan eventually finishing 2nd behind James Harrison and in front of Robert Davidson, and hard race rode by all 3 riders.
