The International Motocross in Valence this weekend gave the perfect conditions to finalize the preparations for the GP season. Consistent riding from Xavier Boog lifted him to the podium, fourth place from the first and the second race together with a victory from the final race sealed a second place in the overall standings of the weekend. The first GP of the season is raced in two weeks in Losail, Qatar.
The International Motocross in Valence this weekend was the last test event for the GP season only two weeks away. ICE1Racing rider Xavier Boog had a great opportunity to prepare himself to the season start on his home soil.
“The weekend was good for us. Yesterday during the training we were able to change a few settings and finalize the race set ups for the first GP”, commented the team manager Antti Pyrhönen. “Xavier is ready to strike and prepared for the season.”
In the first two races Boog finished fourth. The first start wasn’t the best possible and Boog was forced to push hard to reach the lead, which backfired towards the end of the race a little bit. Yet he was able to finish right behind the second and third. Boog holeshot the second start and the tight race ended yet again with the second, third and fourth finishing in tight pack.
The final race of the day combined the top 20 riders of MX1 and MX2. Boog was second after Gautier Paulin in the start. On the tenth round Boog was third as Paulin faced a mechanical problem and soon after he was able to take the lead by passing Clement Desalle. The victory of the final race brought Boog to the second place in the overall standings of the weekend. Desalle took the weekend and Tanel Leok was third.
“It was a good day, really good training. I’m ready for the first GP”, commented happy Boog.
The first GP of the World Championship season will be raced on March 2nd on the track of Losail in Qatar.
