Injury Update: Trey Canard

Canard withdraws from supercross.

What’s been eating Trey Canard? That question has been asked countless times since he returned from a knock to the head that was sustained in Toronto. Canard has limped to a fourteenth and an eleventh at the previous two rounds, but it seems that there was a reason behind his mediocre showings.

Red Bull KTM announced earlier today that ’41’ will miss the rest of the Monster Energy Supercross series in an attempt to overcome a virus that he has been struggling with recently. There is no specific explanation on how serious the issue is, but the aim is to be at his best for the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross opener on May 20th.

“I am extremely saddened to sit out the rest of the series; it has been a disappointing season for me to say the least,” Trey Canard stated in a press release. “I’ve been dealing with severe fatigue issues and need to figure my body out so that I can race at 100% not only for myself, but for everyone who continues to support me. Competing at the level we do requires you to be at your healthiest in order to remain competitive and safe on the track.

“I just don’t feel like I’m there and I think its best I fully recover so I can give the outdoor series my undivided attention,” he continued. “I want to thank everyone for being so understanding and assure those who continue to believe in me that I will do everything within my power to be at my very best as soon as possible.”

Roger De Coster, the team manager at Red Bull, echoed those sentiments. “We fully support Trey’s decision to focus on getting healthy and turn his effort toward being ready for the motocross season,” he said. “We look forward to being able to get an early start on motocross testing with Trey to make sure he along with his teammates have their KTM 450 SX-F’s dialed-in from the start of the series.“

Injury Update: Justin Barcia

Host of injuries confirmed.

Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team’s Justin Barcia has provided an update on his condition following his savage crash in the SMX finale at the LA Coliseum. In a brutal blow, Barcia has revealed he’s suffered a few broken ribs, has a badly broken collarbone and a beat up lung. Here’s his post below.
