Injury Update: Colt Nichols

Colt Nichols had a turbulent start to the 2022 Monster Energy Supercross campaign. A sub-par timed qualifying session, where he posted the sixth-fastest time, was an intriguing start to the term, but soon forgotten about in the first 250SX West heat race inside of Angel Stadium. Nichols claimed the early lead and rode remarkably well – an untimely fall in the whoops cost him dearly though. Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha has confirmed that he injured both arms and undergo surgery today.

“@_ColtNichols suffered injuries to both arms in his crash while leading the 250 heat race in Anaheim last night. He will be undergoing surgery today and more info will be shared once available.”

There is no official word on whether Nichols actually broke both arms and requires surgery on each limb, but that is the word in the Monster Energy Supercross pits. The Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha squad still have Christian Craig, the Anaheim 1 winner, and Nate Thrasher in action during 250SX West. Jeremy Martin and Levi Kitchen will represent the team when the 250SX East series kicks off on February 19, as Justin Cooper also had a season-ending crash earlier this week.
