Honda Park in Olmen, Belgium, has closed down and people across Europe are furious. That much is obvious. This is an opportunity to voice that frustration in a constructive manner and prove the power that motocross actually has. It’s worth a shot! The petition on this link has amassed 6827 signatures at the moment and is being shared by the official Honda Park social accounts, so is the best way to show our valued the venue is.
Belgian riders are extremely frustrated at the decision, which was made due to noise requirements. Stefan Everts summed up the situation in a perfect manner via this short quote. “RIP Olmen. Yet another stab in the heart for our sport in Belgium.” The number of tracks that are closing in Belgium could pose an interesting issue for teams contesting the FIM Motocross World Championship. Belgium has long been the place to be, but maybe that focus will shift to another European hotspot in the coming years.
