It is with deep regret that Future West have to announce the cancellation of the Glasgow round of this years Future West ACU British Supercross Championships. Future West have worked very hard to return a round of the series to Scotland after a 7 year absence from the region but the unreliability of local contractors have made it impossible to carry on with the event scheduled for the 26th of November.
Future West would like to thank the Scottish Motocross community for their support and help in trying to make this event work. It is really unfortunate to all involved and Future West would like to apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused the UK motocross community. Full refunds for tickets are available from the Arena and rider entry refunds are available from the ACU or can be applied to the Belfast, London or Birmingham rounds of the series.
John Hellam had this to say: “This is a very disappointing and frustrating situation. Ticket sales are not the problem here, the event was selling well and expected to sell out. A lot of good people in the area have worked very hard to make this work including Braehead Arena and it’s staff but unfortunately last minute inflation on prices by event contractors and the obvious unreliability have made it impossible to continue with the event for this year. We are exploring other possible dates and venues to replace this round and will keep everyone updated as the series moves forward.”
Because of the cancellation Future West have had long discussions with Braehead Arena and a tentative agreement has been put together for a 3 year contract for Supercross at Braehead Arena starting in November of 2012. With a years planning we are positive the issues we are facing now will be resolved.
Next up for Future West is the Belfast round of British Supercross Championships next Saturday night at Odyssey Arena. For more information on the Future West ACU British Supercross Championship please visit www.fwsx.com
