KTM, Husqvarna and GASGAS announced today that all of the 2021 models are being recalled to have chains inspected. This relates to all models, from a 50cc to 450F. Official communication from each manufacturer is below.
KTM
KTM recalls KTM SX, SX-F and SMR models of model year 2021 to the workshops of authorized KTM dealers in order to replace the drive chain due to deviations in manufacturing at our supplier.
A defective drive chain may have been installed in the above models due to deviations in manufacturing at our supplier. This can lead to premature failure of the chain and possible consequential damage. The chain must therefore be replaced on all affected motorcycles.
Customers to whom the affected motorcycles have already been delivered are being personally informed by letter and are asked to immediately contact an authorized KTM dealer to arrange an appointment. In addition, customers can check online in the “Service” area on the KTM website if their motorcycle is affected by the recall.
The replacement of the chain takes approximately 20 minutes. The replacement of the chain can be carried out by authorized KTM dealers only. This replacement of the chain is a free-of-charge service for customers performed under warranty.
GASGAS
GASGAS recalls GASGAS MC models of model year 2021 to the workshops of authorized GASGAS dealers in order to replace the drive chain due to deviations in manufacturing at our supplier.

Husqvarna
Husqvarna Motorcycles is recalling model year 2021 TC, FC and FS models in order for authorised Husqvarna Motorcycles dealers to check if a defective drive chain may have been installed due to deviations in manufacturing at our supplier.
While the deviation may not be present on all motorcycles, possible premature failure of the chain can lead to possible consequential damage. The chain must therefore be replaced on all of the affected motorcycles.
Customers who have already acquired one of the above-mentioned motorcycles are being informed by a personal letter and are asked to immediately contact an authorised Husqvarna Motorcycles Dealer to arrange an inspection appointment.
In addition, customers can check online in the ‘Service’ area of the Husqvarna Motorcycles website to determine if their motorcycle is affected by this recall. The check and replacement of all parts involved will be carried out at no cost to the customer and must be performed by authorised Husqvarna Motorcycles Dealers only.
