In aid of the May 2013 Coast to Coast Charity Cycle Ride for Orla, Keech Hospice Care and The Sick Children’s Trust
On 4th and 5th of May 2013, a group of road cyclists took part in a gruelling cycle ride across some of England’s most challenging terrain. They started on the west coast of Cumbria, across the Lake District and Pennines before crossing the Vale of York and North York Moors to arrive at Whitby on the East coast. The distance covered was around 180 miles in just under 15 hours with over 15,000ft of climbing, 3 miles of which was near vertical ascent. Over £20,000 was raised for Keech Hospice Care and The Sick Children’s Trust.
As part of the fundraising a charity ball and auction took place where one of the major prizes was the chance to spend race day as part of the Oakleaf Kawasaki motocross team. Lucky winners Steve and Isobel Green successfully bid over £200 to win the prize. Steve and Isobel who both love dirt bikes said;
“We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, were treated to some fantastic racing, exclusive access to the team, riders and bikes and a top notch lunch thanks to team chef John Tong. Thanks to Shaun Anthony and the crew of Oakleaf Kawasaki for making the final round of Red Bull Pro Nationals such a hit for us. Our young children Georgina and Daniel had a great time too and it was amazing to see the racing from the perspective of the team rather than from the sidelines.”
