MXoN Picks: Team Ireland
Ireland name MXoN replacement.
Ireland originally selected Graeme Irwin (MXGP), Martin Barr (MX2) and Stuart Edmonds (Open) for the Motocross of Nations back in June. All three riders have suffered knocks since that news filtered through and, unfortunately, one rider has had to withdraw. Edmonds confirmed the news on social media earlier today.
“Unfortunate news to bring you all,” Edmonds wrote on social media. “I hit neutral on the face of a jump causing a big crash and it has broke a new section of my arm that was fixed in June at the bottom of the plate. I am well and truly gutted. I know the work I put into getting my arm strong again and my fitness up to scratch to race again. It has been torcher for me most days. I tried my best but sometimes things like this happen! Team Ireland’s manger, @Five5Motorsport, gave me great words of wisdom that I will keep in mind and stay positive of a really sh**ty situation for now. It’s only temporary tho. I wish Team Ireland’s @Dicky57 @GraemeIrwin @Barty50 the best of luck and I will be supporting them 100%! Bring us home a good result lads. Sorry for letting you down!”
Richard Bird, who has limited experience on the international stage, will replace Stuart Edmonds on Team Ireland, it seems. Ireland were fifteenth at the Motocross of Nations last year with what most would consider their best-possible team.
