July is just around the corner, which means that Motocross of Nations announcements are about to start filtering through. The Irish arguably have the easiest decision, as their team typically picks itself based on how riders perform in the Maxxis British Championship, hence why it is no surprise that they are the first to make an announcement.
Graeme Irwin (MXGP), Martin Barr (MX2) and Stuart Edmonds (Open) will represent Team Ireland at Matterley Basin in October. Richard Bird will act as the reserve rider. Philip McCullough, the team manager, confirmed on social media that Jason Meara and Gary Gibson were also considered for a spot on the team.
Irwin currently leads the MX1 class in the Maxxis British Championship, with Edmonds thirteenth in that same series. Barr runs second in the MX2 standings.
