Another one bites the dust. Justin Barcia did not even crash at round seven of Monster Energy Supercross but, alas, he has been forced onto the sidelines with a hand injury. Barcia was leading the first heat of the night in Arlington, but then had to double a triple. Thankfully he did not get landed on, as that was certainly a possibility, but Tyler Bowers did clip his hand on the way down. Barcia then ditched his Monster Energy Knich Yamaha Factory Racing machine and ran back to the pits.
“Small setback,” Justin Barcia wrote in a small statement on social media. “Will have surgery tomorrow and be back at it in no time. Luckily it is just my hand and I can still keep my fitness up off the bike! Thanks to all my fans and great sponsors!” The post was accompanied by a picture of his hand, which can be viewed below.
A recovery time will become available once he has undergone surgery tomorrow. After missing the Arlington main event, Barcia has slipped to the sixth in the current standings. It is extremely likely that he’ll drop outside of the top ten before his return to racing. We’ll provide more updates as soon as they become available.
