ClubMX Tampa Video and Oakland Preview

Superb content from the popular team.

LAST ROUND (TAMPA): Shhhhhhh! Don’t tell anyone but Jeremy Martin has quietly moved up to fourth in points overall in the 250 Eastern Regional Championship. With the focus being on a solid crop of rookies and some pretty aggressive riding in the class, Jeremy has stayed on the bike and put in some solid finishes. Overall success is based on consistency and that is the plan for the number 6.

Words: Press Release/Mike Bonacci | Lead Image: ClubMX

After two rounds of racing, Jeremy is getting back to the feel of racing and the pace it requires. On a bright note, he was able to get the holeshot in his heat race and then again in the main event. The work the team put in between races really paid off. As a veteran of the class, I believe his experience will continue to pay dividends as the season rolls on – especially into a triple crown race at Arlington.

BACK TO ROUND 2:

ENZO LOPES: Enzo’s last race was “humbling” to say the least. It certainly did not represent what he is capable of. Back at ClubMX there is already talk about the East/West shootout in New Jersey. Why? Because there is some smack talking about who is faster between Jeremy, Phil and Enzo and the proving grounds will come to a point at that race. Enzo has used the time off in a very productive way to re-focus on his goal of standing on the podium. There is a certain combination of things that need to happen on a race night to accomplish the goal and he feels like he is ready.

PHIL NICOLETTI: There is no lack of effort on Phil’s part. He puts in the work on every training day to improve his craft. He will be the first to say he does not have the natural talent of his competitors but it is a fact that none of them will out-work him. At thirty three years old, his experience plays a big role in his success – most recently with a third place finish in a triple crown race. The desire and passion are still there, and he will put it to the test again in Oakland. You may be surprised but they train three to four days per week on top of their normal bicycle rides and off-track workouts. Believe it or not, Phil is a good example for the amateur racers at the facility in terms of work ethic and determination.

GARRETT MARCHBANKS: As of this writing, he will get the plate out of his wrist on Monday and then it will be back to the turn track to see how much he can handle. After that I will have a date to expect his return and it is something I am really looking forward to. If he can come close to the speed he returned with in the off season, he will be a threat to disrupt the class rankings. With the new SMX points ranking program, he will need to get busy amassing a total to get him in the top twenty. If anyone can rack up points and not care who he takes them from, Garrett is the guy.

NOTES

  • Thank you to Feld for the opportunity to support the Military last weekend and specifically Fort Bragg in our case. With another 46,000 people in attendance in Tampa, we were the centre of attention with our Military bike design. I would have to guess that it was the most photographed bike of the weekend judging by the 20,000 fans that walked through the pits. It was very rewarding to be a part of the program.
  • We hired a secondary truck driver to tag-team the trip from Tampa to Oakland. The season went from a convenient weekend off after Tampa to a gruelling trip back across the country. It is hard on the team and expensive to drive across the country, but it will be worth it. At the rate people are attending the races this season, it would be a shame to short change the people in that market.
